Archiving as method

For many groups, the internet is an important site of collective memory, cultural expression, connection and identity formation. But born-digital materials can be ephemeral: social media posts disappear, links break and content loses its context.

Archiving as method aims to gather, co-develop and rework open source tools, methods, infrastructures and approaches for community-oriented digital archiving with East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) diasporic groups in the UK. The project explores ways to preserve, document and reactivate born-digital materials that are appropriate for groups with limited time and resources.

The project aims to document and share situated, relational, creative and reflective approaches to archiving with grassroots groups, supporting them to activate online materials in ways that are meaningful for their work.
